| ADSL stands for Asymmetrical digital subscriber line. ADSL internet service is provided via the copper telephone wire into your office or residence. Freese-Notis Global Internet (FNGI) is an internet service provider, (ISP). FNGI works jointly with Qwest to provide its customers with ADSL service in central Iowa. ADSL service offers the joint use of the internet as well as telephone service at the same time at an affordable price. ADSL internet speed is a function of the distance from your office or residence to the nearest telephone switching office. FNGI helps provide faster speeds to its ADSL customers with its choice of a modem and special programming of thatmodem. | What does that mean? |
| Originally it meant a dry copper pair of wiring (Dry Signal Line) and now commonly is considered digital subscriber line. This broadband connection uses the space for signals outside of the voice range to carry signals back to the network. Many cases are 896K (kilobits) upload speed and 7 MB (megabits) download. This 896k speed upload is key to the advantage of ADSL compared to competing broadband offerings which run at half of this speed. |
